The Merdeka Square or Dataran Merdeka is KL’s best known landmark. This is the historical place where the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag was raised on 31st August 1957. 

KL City Gallery showcases contemporary artworks by Malaysian artists, has a Tourist Information Centre and the official souvenir of Kuala Lumpur store.
