SUSTAINABILITY AT CENTRE OF HOTEL BRAND'S NEW ADDITION

Property developer IGB Bhd has unveiled the latest addition to its hotels – St. Giles Southkey Johor Baru.

The hotel, consisting of 575 modern and spacious guest rooms, is part of the UK-based St. Giles Hotels brand and is managed locally by Cititel Hotel Management Sdn Bhd.

St. Giles Southkey is located within Mid Valley Southkey, which includes a mall, exhibition centre and commercial towers.

Located just 7km from the Singapore-Johor Causeway and 26km from Senai International Airport, the hotel is positioned to meet growing travel, business, leisure and lifestyle needs.

“We are delighted to bring our St. Giles Hotels experience and hospitality to Johor, especially now that the region is expanding its tourism development and increasingly welcoming travellers from Singapore, other parts of Asia and Europe as well as within Malaysia,” said Cititel Hotel Management (CHM) chief executive officer James Loo.

Over the first two months since the reopening of Malaysian borders in April, Johor Baru welcomed some 600,000 travellers from Singapore among the one million international travellers.

The hotel is part of IGB’s urban development, featuring modern and clean designs with a focus on natural materials and colours.

St. Giles Southkey’s guest rooms cater to all guest types – from solo travellers to couples, families and business travellers.

The hotel also features an all-day dining restaurant, business lounge, rooftop bar and lounge, gymnasium and an infinity swimming pool overlooking the city skyline.

In line with IGB’s sustainability goals, the hotel introduces an eco-friendly approach to the design and facilities.

Water dispensers are installed on all guest-room floors to minimise the use of single-use plastic bottles that are typically placed in hotel rooms.

“It is estimated that at least half a million used plastic water bottles are discarded per hotel per year,” noted Loo.

“The installation of water dispensers thus not only contributes to reducing our hotels’ negative impact on the environment but will also result in savings.

“We will be implementing this system as well as other sustainable initiatives across the St. Giles hotels portfolio as part of our #CITIZENG sustainable programme,” he added.

St. Giles Southkey is ready to welcome guests, who can book a room via resvn.skjb@stgiles-hotels.com or call 07-336 8888.
