Taking on the UK’s Toughest Mountain Challenge for an Amazing Cause
In just two days, a trio of determined St Giles Hotels team members will embark on one of the UK’s most demanding physical challenges – all in the name of creating brighter futures for children across the nation.
Becca Tarabasa, Clarissa Loo, and Andrew Elliott are setting out to conquer the UK’s Three Peaks Challenge on May 16th. The ambitious feat involves scaling the three highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales – Ben Nevis (1,345m), Scafell Pike (978m), and Snowdon (1,085m) – within a gruelling 30-hour timeframe.

After dangling from a crane in Coram Fields last year, we wanted to push ourselves even further,” shares Andrew. “The Three Peaks Challenge seemed like the perfect next step – challenging, meaningful, and with real impact for the children we’re trying to help.
Mountains of Impact
This isn’t just about testing physical limits or ticking off bucket-list adventures. Every step of the 22-mile journey represents Hotels with Heart’s ongoing commitment to our partnership with Coram, the UK’s oldest children’s charity.
Since 1739, Coram has been championing children’s rights and wellbeing, offering vital legal support, expert advocacy, adoption services, and life-changing educational programs. In 2024, Hotels with Heart proudly partnered with Coram, pledging £35,500 to help reach 12,000 children over the next three years.

Every step we take supports Coram Life Education’s incredible work,” explains Clarissa. “When you think about how they’re helping thousands of children build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills, suddenly the challenge of climbing three mountains doesn’t seem so daunting. These children face much bigger mountains every day – we’re just doing our small part to help them.
Training for the Challenge
Preparation for such a demanding challenge doesn’t happen overnight. Our team has been training rigorously for months, gradually building stamina and strength for the mountain terrain they’ll face.

The physical training is intense,” Becca admits, “but it’s the mental preparation that’s equally important. We’ll be hiking through the night, potentially in challenging weather conditions, pushing through fatigue and discomfort. But remembering why we’re doing this – for the children Coram supports – that’s what will get us to each summit.
The Heart Behind the Challenge
This mountain-scaling endeavour embodies the core mission of Hotels with Heart Foundation: to give back more than we take. Founded by Abigail Tan, CEO of St Giles Hotels, our foundation is dedicated to making a tangible difference in the communities surrounding our hotels.
“Hotels with Heart was born out of the desire for St Giles Hotels to not just be a portfolio of hotels in cities but to be a collection of people, faces, and lives,” shares Abigail. “This challenge perfectly represents our commitment to regenerative hospitality – using our platform to serve not just our guests but also the people, communities, and ecosystems surrounding our hotels.”
